Last weekend, I had the day that I consider to be my Seijin no Hi. If you remember from many, many posts ago, that’s the coming of age day, where twenty-year-olds wear a suit or a kimono and celebrate for the day. My friend’s host grandmother and mother dressed myself, Rachel, and a third homestay student living in our city named Jessica in maybe twelve layers of ties and belts, and tied our obi—mine in particular, they chose to tie in a newly created style because I am into modern culture. We were taken to a beautiful local garden, where we were treated to a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. I could describe the day, but I prefer to tell it in pictures.
